Melissa Flores - 5th & 6th Grades
Our 5th and 6th grades are taught by Melissa Hughes-Flores who is new to TCAS this year. She says that when she steps into her classroom the rest of her world disappears; her students become everything. She likes to see the “ah-ha” moments when they understand a concept. She also enjoys seeing them put their best into their work and to watch the transformations as they grow and develop. Melissa says, “Investing in my students allows me to 'pay it forward' in gratitude to all who believed in and invested in me.”
Mrs. Flores graduated with AA and AS degrees from Flathead Valley Community College and then with a BS from the University of Montana – Western. Her teaching experience includes teaching in a small, rural school in Montana,
substitute teaching in the Kelso-Longview, Washington school district, teaching 4th grade at an American school in Mexico, and two years teaching for the Kennewick School District in Kindergarten and 2nd grade.
Outside of the classroom she is a busy mom of three where free time is filled with Adventure Club, birthday parties, play dates and all the other things that are required of mothers! When she does have moments for herself, she enjoys training horses, drawing, traveling and sewing. One of her extracurricular activities is serving on the Richland Adventist Church Board.
